Notes

We find a 3 mo. old James in the household on the 1850 census, but in every later census (1860-80) it seems he was not born until 1852. One expects to find errors in census lists, but when they all agree it is difficult to reconcile a single anomaly. A birth record has been found that confirms that James was born in 1852; therefore, there must have been an earlier James who died in infancy. We are including him here to complete the record.
